From August 13 to September 6, 2025, Robert Megel presented a piece of furniture from his CollectionCork X at the Japanese Palace in Dresden, Germany. The stool CX-CH-01 was on display, a design that — like the entire collection — emphasizes the contrast between Portuguese cork and brushed aluminum.

The collection combines two contrasting materials: aluminum as a clean supporting structure; cork as a warm, soft, and tactile material. This contrast is particularly exciting for the designer. Cork makes the furniture functionally resilient while simultaneously being comfortable to use. The chair CX-CH-01 succinctly encapsulates this idea of the collection.

The Japanese Palace provided a special setting for this. The architecture, the ceiling height, and the lighting significantly alter the perception of the furniture. The stool not only stood as an object in the room, but also entered into a dialogue with its surroundings, with the visitors and the magnificent neighboring objects by many talented designers.
